Job summary

Con Edison in New York seeks an experienced in-house attorney to lead and manage complex labor and employment matters, providing strategic guidance to Company leadership on compliance with evolving laws and regulations.

The role requires a JD, admission to the New York Bar, and at least 10 years of focused experience in labor and employment law, including deposition work, strong litigation, negotiation, and presentation skills. Occasional after-hours emergencies may be required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice law in New York State.
• Minimum of 10 years of labor and employment law experience, including administrative and judicial proceedings.
• Deposition experience required.
• Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written and oral communication, litigation and negotiation skills, required.
• Litigation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor on compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws, regulations, and requirements, including EEO, traditional labor, OSHA and health and safety, leave, wage and hour, prevailing wage, and immigration matters.
• Represent the Company in state and federal court, before EEO agencies and the NLRB, while partnering with Company leadership to provide strategic counsel on a broad range of labor and employment law issues.
• Play an integral role in the negotiation, administration, and implementation of the Companys labor agreements, helping shape outcomes that support both the business and its workforce.
