Job summary

Covenant Health's Roane Medical Center in Harriman, TN, seeks a Senior Lab Assistant for a full-time day shift (72 hours per pay period). The role focuses on specimen handling, patient registration, charting of Lab/Pathology and Imaging reports, and duties of Lab Assistant, with local travel and collaboration with the Laboratory Manager.

Ideal candidates have basic computer skills, medical terminology, and phlebotomy or equivalent experience; licensure/desirable ASCP/NCA certification and a TN

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills and medical terminology knowledge.
• Registration of outpatients in a timely, safe and courteous manner.
• Phlebotomy or related clinical/clerical skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists in orientation and training of new and existing employees.
• Care, maintenance, and trouble-shooting of equipment; notify manager when repair is needed.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and monitor orders through Matkon system.
• Review and correct physician orders for errors in test orders, diagnoses or insurance.
• Generate, verify, and submit contract billing.
• Assist with scheduling and medical records verification as needed.
• Contribute to development of policies and procedures.
• Local travel is required.
• Adhere to safety policies and complete annual education assignments.
• Check and follow up on incomplete reference Lab reports.
