Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Senior Lab Operations Associate to keep our labs running safely and efficiently. This role reports into our Lab Operations Manager. As part of our “Lab Ops” team, you will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of our lab spaces in multiple facilities in partnership with our Facilities, Warehouse and EHS teams. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!

What you’ll do:
  • Proactively perform daily walkthroughs, identifying and addressing potential issues to ensure lab spaces are consistently clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards. Serve as a primary, experienced in‑person resource for complex lab inquiries and support requests.

  • Maintain consistent and reliable operational coverage across multiple MA lab facilities, self‑managing site presence and schedule to ensure no facility experiences gaps in support.
Independently manage and prioritize lab users’ requests received via MaintainX tickets and proactively monitor Slack channels to anticipate and resolve lab‑related needs. Own resolution of escalated or complex requests, looping in the appropriate contacts as needed.

  • Strategically manage inventory and procurement of lab supplies and PPE. Oversee the inspection and certification of lab safety equipment and coordinate complex logistics for specialized gas cylinder orders and deliveries.

  • Take ownership of the preventative maintenance program for essential lab equipment (pumps, vacuums, water filtration units, and portable exhaust units). Diagnose complex equipment issues and elevate only those requiring specialized technical attention to the Facilities team or Lab Manager, recommending potential solutions.

  • Serve as the lead point of contact for external vendors, managing on‑site service visits from initiation to completion and ensuring stringent adherence to Form Energy’s safety and work protocols.

  • Collaborate with the Facilities and Warehouse teams during significant lab moves, independently managing the in‑lab decommissioning and commissioning of lab furnishings and equipment to minimize downtime.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive corrective and preventive maintenance records and work instructions for shared lab equipment using CMMS software (MaintainX), recommend improvements to maintenance schedules and procedures.

What you’ll bring:
  • 6+ years of experience working in a lab environment, including training and/or certifications in chemical hygiene, lab safety best practices, basic PPE guidelines, and general lab equipment operations and troubleshooting

  • Developing clear and effective communications on technical topics for both internal customers and external vendors

  • Proactive problem solving and a willingness to learn new skills on a variety of projects

  • Demonstrated reliability and a consistent on‑site presence

  • Experience with Google Apps, Slack, or other cloud‑based software

  • Familiarity with lift‑assist devices, drum dollies, and gas cylinder dollies a plus

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lb
