Job summary

IBM in Herndon, VA seeks a Platform Network Engineer to support the Army Edge Computing Capability (AECC) project. You will work with Government engineers to design and sustain a cloud-native, Kubernetes-based multitenant hosting environment across global sites, using IaC for deployment and ongoing operations.

Role requires senior-level experience in Kubernetes networking, network automation, and DoD security controls, with strong scripting and certification credentials.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in network engineering implementing and troubleshooting IT infra
• Experience with Kubernetes networking, containerized workloads, enterprise envs
• Knowledge of VXLAN, GENEVE, SD-WAN and firewalling platforms (NXOS, NGFW)
• Experience with IaC tools and scripting for deployment and maintenance

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the AECC Kubernetes-based architecture with Government engineers
• Create, deploy and maintain IaC for the Kubernetes networking deployment
• Provision network foundations for customer namespaces and enclaves using IaC
• Administer the network (patching/upgrading Kubernetes networking components)
• Monitor network health and resource usage; escalate as needed
• Harden the network per cloud-native best practices and DoD controls
• Troubleshoot hosting platform network issues and perform RCA
• Document system diagrams, topology, Kubernetes configs, SOPs
• Provide on-call support for after-hours incidents
• Suggest improvements for security, scalability, performance
