Job summary

State of Missouri – Missouri Judiciary is recruiting for a Juvenile Officer IV to manage highly responsible professional and supervisory work enforcing and administering juvenile justice within a circuit. The role includes charge of children under juvenile/family court jurisdiction and oversight of a small juvenile office and/or detention center with under 20 staff.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college with a degree in Criminal Justice Administration, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related area and three years of experience as a Juvenile Officer, of which one year must have been in a supervisory capacity or one year of experience as a Juvenile Officer III.
• Graduate level education may substitute for up to two years of the required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Establishes supervisory expectations; checks work product; provides training; conducts evaluations; coaches staff; participates in hiring/terminations.
• Develops and implements a graduated sanctions grid.
• Reviews case files to ensure compliance with statutes and court procedures.
• Communicates with the community and media as chief public relations officer for the juvenile office.
• Prepares financial data such as budget, payroll and grant applications.
• Represents the 28th Circuit Juvenile Office in Juvenile Court proceedings.
• Files legal petitions and related documents for juvenile cases.
