Job summary

The State of Missouri Judiciary is seeking a Juvenile Officer IV to oversee juvenile justice operations in a circuit, manage staff, and serve as the chief public relations officer for the juvenile office.

Minimum qualifications include a four-year degree in criminal justice or related fields and three years of juvenile officer experience, with supervisory duties preferred. The state offers a pension, leave, and health insurance benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college with a degree in Criminal Justice Administration, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related area and three years of experience as a Juvenile Officer, of which one year must have been in a supervisory capacity or one year of experience as a Juvenile Officer III.
• Graduate level education may substitute for up to two years of the required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Establishes supervisory expectations, checks work product, provides training and conducts performance evaluations.
• Coaches and guides staff, participates in hiring and termination of staff, and administers personnel policies.
• Develops and implements a graduated sanctions grid.
• Reviews case files for compliance with statutes and procedures.
• Represents the Juvenile Office in Juvenile Court proceedings and communicates with community and media.
