Job summary

FlightSafety Defense Corporation is seeking a Mission Modeler to design, build, and execute high‑fidelity military training scenarios for the Joint Simulation Environment. You will craft large‑force virtual exercises, integrate multiple forces, and ensure compatibility with JSE tools and GRID services.

You will translate operational requirements with SMEs and engineers, validate scenarios at government sites, and contribute to scenario documentation and test plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, operations research, computer science, or closely related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in military mission scenario development or distributed synthetic environments in a DoD context.
• Hands-on experience with military scenario authoring tools and constructive simulation frameworks.
• Familiarity with distributed simulation protocols (HLA, DIS, TENA) and connecting scenario entities to a networked environment.
• Understanding of JSE architecture, GRID services, and JPP structure including Lua scripting and entity state messages.
• Operational knowledge of USAF/USN TTPs for tactical training scenarios.
• Experience supporting large-force exercises (50+ players) in LVC environments.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills; experience with AARs and test plans.
• Active Secret clearance; ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mission scenarios for large-force virtual training within the JSE synthetic battlespace.
• Integrate blue air, red air, constructive forces, and environmental conditions using JSE-compatible tools and frameworks.
• Author and maintain scenario behavior files, Lua scripts, configurations, and control logic per JPP standards.
• Coordinate with JSE GRID services for entity state, sensors, weapons, and LOS services to ensure high fidelity events.
• Collaborate with Government offices, SMEs, and engineers to translate training requirements into executable scenarios.
• Support scenario validation events at JSE facilities and government test ranges; contribute to debrief analyses.
• Maintain scenario libraries across profiles and force ratios with MLS considerations; document and trace artifacts to JSE/SCARS standards.
• Travel to government test events and contractor facilities as needed.
