Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript
2. Architect, implement, and optimize RESTful APIs
3. Ensure high code quality through unit testing, integration testing, and automated test coverage
4. Work closely with the QA team to document requirements, ensure testability, and implement test-driven development where applicable
5. Support production availability by troubleshooting issues, and proactively improving system resilience
6. Collaborate with the Product team to break down features into well-defined tasks, provide technical feedback, and align development with business goals
7. Optimize performance and scalability of back-end services
8. Implement best practices for security, authentication, and authorization
9. Collaborate in the replatforming effort, contributing to architectural decisions and modernization strategies
10. Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines, logging, and monitoring for backend services
11. Proactively communicate with cross-functional teams, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
12. Contribute to team goals by consistently delivering on projects that have high complexity and critical business impact
13. Write well-crafted, high-quality, and easy-to-maintain code
14. Write unit and automated tests for new features
15. Proactively contribute to the improvement of other engineers in the company through mentoring and providing constructive, candid feedback
16. Proactively give technical and strategic feedback on projects relevant to their expertise that leads to better outcomes

Required Qualifications

1. Strong proficiency in Node.js, with hands-on experience in building scalable backend services
2. Experience with TypeScript in production environments
3. Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
4. Strong focus on unit testing, integration testing, and working with QA to ensure high test coverage
5. Experience with MongoDB and familiarity with database paradigms (SQL or NoSQL)
6. Understanding of authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, session-based authentication)
7. Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization tools is a plus
8. Exposure to React.js and ability to collaborate with front-end engineers
9. Experience with debugging, monitoring, and supporting production applications
10. Knowledge of scalable architecture, caching strategies, and performance optimization
11. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment
12. Proactive mindset, with the ability to share feedback, raise concerns, and suggest improvements
