Job summary

PNC is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead backend services and microservices initiatives in the Lending Technology organization. Based in Pittsburgh, PA or Dallas, TX, you will guide architecture, drive code quality, and mentor engineers across onshore and offshore teams.

You will own design-and-delivery of enterprise-grade solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka, while aligning with enterprise standards and security requirements.

Qualifications

10+ years software engineering with backend focus.
5+ years enterprise Java/Spring Boot experience.
Experience leading teams of 5–10 engineers.
Experience with microservices architecture.
Strong event-driven experience with Kafka.
Stakeholder engagement across multiple levels.

Responsibilities

Lead design, development, and implementation of enterprise-grade software solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and Microservices.
Serve as technical lead for a team of 5-10 engineers across onshore and offshore locations.
Establish engineering standards, code quality practices, and development methodologies.
Drive architectural decisions balancing scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
