Job summary

SoftServe in the United States is seeking a Java-focused software engineer to join a team building and enhancing enterprise applications for the patent grant process. You will design, develop, and maintain Java-based solutions, contribute to cloud-native initiatives, and help ensure system stability.

You will collaborate with QA and other developers, apply clean coding practices, and participate in CI/CD using GitHub, ArgoCD, Docker, and Kubernetes, while analyzing requirements and delivering

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and delivering Java enterprise applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and ownership of technical solutions.
• Familiarity with Spring Framework, SQL, and cloud-native concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications supporting the patent grant process
• Deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software using Java and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Security)
• Collaborate closely with the QA Engineer and other developers to deliver business value
• Analyze functional and technical requirements and translate them into reliable technical solutions
• Work with SQL databases and contribute to cloud-native application development in containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes
• Contribute to CI/CD processes using GitHub and ArgoCD, and participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
• Support production applications by investigating incidents and leveraging monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Loki, and PagerDuty to ensure system stability
• Participate in a paid 24/7 support rotation to ensure timely incident response and service continuity (will be paid additionally)

About The Role In this role, you will join a team developing and enhancing solutions supporting the patent grant process, a core business capability. The role is primarily focused on delivering new functionality while contributing to application maintenance and incident resolution to ensure the stability and reliability of business-critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications supporting the patent grant process
• Deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software using Java and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Security)
• Collaborate closely with the QA Engineer and other developers to deliver business value

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with Java and enterprise application development
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications using object-oriented programming principles and clean coding practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
• Excellent communication skills, a proactive mindset, and ownership of technical solutions
• Familiarity with Spring Framework, SQL, and modern software development practices will be an advantage
• Exposure to cloud-native architectures, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, ArgoCD), and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Loki, PagerDuty) is a plus
