Job summary

SoftServe is seeking a Java Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications supporting the patent grant process. You will contribute to building scalable features, fix incidents, and participate in 24/7 support rotation (compensation as separate shift pay).

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java and enterprise application development.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications using object-oriented programming principles and clean coding practices.
• Familiarity with Spring Framework, SQL, and modern software development practices will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications supporting the patent grant process.
• Participate in a paid 24/7 support rotation to ensure timely incident response and service continuity (will be paid additionally).
• Deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software using Java and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Security).
• Collaborate closely with the QC Engineer and other developers to deliver business value.
• Analyze functional and technical requirements and translate them into reliable technical solutions.
• Work with SQL databases and contribute to cloud-native application development in containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Contribute to CI/CD processes using GitHub and ArgoCD, and participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support production applications by investigating incidents and leveraging monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Loki, and PagerDuty to ensure system stability.

About The Role

In this role, you will develop and enhance solutions supporting the patent grant process, a core business capability. The role is primarily focused on delivering new functionality while contributing to application maintenance and incident resolution to ensure the stability and reliability of business-critical systems.

Requirements

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication skills, a proactive mindset, and ownership of technical solutions
• Exposure to cloud-native architectures, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, ArgoCD), and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Loki, PagerDuty) is a plus
