Job summary

Matlen Silver is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to join an enterprise payments team building a cloud-ready, containerized Payment Observability Platform. This is a hybrid role with 3 days onsite per week; Charlotte is the preferred location, with Plano also considered.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience in Core Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and frontend with Angular or React. Prior fintech/payments exposure and Azure experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience; 8+ years preferred.
• Strong experience as a Senior Java Software Engineer.
• Advanced Core Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Experience developing microservices and REST APIs.
• Full-stack development experience with Angular and/or React.
• Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
• Experience with cloud-based application development, preferably Azure.
• Experience working on payment applications or payment-related projects.
• Banking, financial services, or fintech industry experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support enterprise payment applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and enhance cloud-native, microservices-based applications supporting payment observability, transaction monitoring, analytics, search, reporting, and workflow capabilities.
• Develop responsive web applications using Angular and/or React.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and integrations for real-time payment and operational workloads.
• Develop and deploy containerized applications using Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Work with MongoDB and distributed data technologies to support scalable applications.
• Contribute to solutions within an Azure cloud environment.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, SRE, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, and Business teams to deliver highly available and resilient solutions.
• Troubleshoot, enhance, and support mission-critical payment applications.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to join an enterprise payments team responsible for building and supporting a cloud-ready, containerized Payment Observability Platform.

This role is ideal for a senior-level engineer with strong Core Java and Spring Boot experience who has worked on payment applications within banking, financial services, or fintech environments. The successful candidate will contribute as a senior individual contributor in a modern cloud-native environment using microservices, distributed data stores, and containerized technologies.

Additional Information

• Hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite per week.
• Charlotte is the preferred location; Plano may also be considered.
• Remote candidates will not be considered.
• W2 only; no C2C.
• This is a senior individual contributor position with no direct client interaction.
• The Development Manager and Tech Lead will be the primary points of contact.
• Interview process includes 2 rounds, primarily technical, with the final round preferably conducted onsite.
