Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Performance Engineer to join the Performance Engineering team. This individual-contributor role plans and delivers performance initiatives for a Java-based trading platform, focusing on latency, scalability, reliability, and resiliency.

The engineer builds workloads, analyzes JVM and system behavior, and translates findings into recommendations across client, server, gateway, infrastructure, and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in performance, scalability, software engineering, or production performance analysis.
• Deep Core Java knowledge including JVM internals and latency.
• Experience building workload generators and automation with Java/Scala/Python/Shell.
• Experience with Linux, databases, app servers, caching, and distributed systems.
• Ability to read source code and diagnose bottlenecks with dumps, logs, and profilers.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver performance, scalability, resiliency, and capacity validation for assigned systems.
• Learn architecture, workloads, production behavior, and dependencies.
• Define requirements, workloads, acceptance criteria, and reports with partner teams.
• Build performance test scripts, workload generators, mock services, and automation.
• Run load, stress, endurance, scalability, and resiliency tests.
• Analyze JVM behavior, system resources, databases, logs, and end-to-end latency.
• Recommend and validate improvements to code, configurations, and capacity.
