UnitedHealth Group’s UHC Technology is seeking a senior software engineer to design and develop Java microservices, Kafka streams, and DataStage ETL pipelines within cloud-first solutions. You will mentor teammates, deliver production-ready components, and drive modernization through modern tech choices.

The role emphasizes collaboration across teams, adoption of Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Safeguards in production, with opportunities to explore AI-assisted productivity tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience.
• 8+ years of experience developing software applications.
• 5+ years of experience developing Java/J2EE, Web Services, Spring, and Hibernate.
• 3+ years of professional experience administering Kubernetes environments.
• 3+ years of experience developing solutions hosted within public cloud providers such as Azure/AWS.
• 3+ years of professional experience using SQL.
• 3+ years of experience in CI/CD and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop solutions for the current project through cloud-hosted Java Microservices/Kafka streams and DataStage ETL jobs.
• Mentor and guide developers on the team.
• Hands-on work with deliverables of java services, cloud solutions, data pipelines, Kafka streaming and DataStage PX to implement solutions.
• Help create strategic direction for how to transform other components of the app using modern technologies (Kafka, services, SQL and NoSQL DB).
• Help triage and fix issues with solution in Production.
• Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation by streamlining workflows and automating repetitive tasks.
• Evaluate emerging trends to drive continuous improvement and strategic innovation.
