Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the Global Technology team in Jersey City. You will design and deliver trusted, market-leading JVM-based microservices, focusing on portfolio management workflows, order handling, and analytics in a secure, scalable environment.

You will work in a Kotlin-aware backend with Java, Spring Boot, and modern SDLC practices, emphasizing reliability, performance, and collaboration across product teams.

Qualifications

• Formal training in software engineering concepts and production experience.
• Proficient in Java and Kotlin in a JVM environment.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience with CI/CD, testing, and operations.
• Familiarity with secure, scalable software development practices.
• Understanding of agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Participates in designing and developing scalable and resilient JVM microservices (Java and/or Kotlin) using the Spring Boot ecosystem to contribute to continual, iterative improvements for product teams
• Strong fundamentals with relational databases, including schema design, writing and tuning SQL, and managing schema changes via migrations (e.g., Liquibase)
• Produces or contributes to architecture and design artifacts for applications while ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
• Identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
