Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Java Engineer with Agentic AI in Bentonville, AR. You will design and implement big data solutions, build backend services in Java 8, and integrate agentic AI to automate complex decisions in a hybrid work setting.

You will collaborate with architects, mentor junior developers, and ensure secure, maintainable code with rigorous testing and smooth deployments.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and implementing big data solutions with modern distributed processing.
• Proficiency in core Java and Java 8 features including collections and concurrency.
• Ability to integrate agentic AI frameworks into enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with inbound logistics processes in retail (orders, stock, warehouse).
• Strong understanding of modular, scalable, testable software design across distributed apps.
• Experience in hybrid delivery models and effective onsite/remote collaboration; version control and CI/CD.

Senior Java Engineer with Agentic AI - Hybrid

**Please note: A few of our roles may require in-person interviews at Cognizant offices or client locations, depending on project or client needs.**

In this role, you will:

• Design and implement robust big data solutions that process high volume datasets with consistent performance and reliability in a hybrid work environment
• Develop and maintain backend services using core Java and Java 8 features that ensure secure modular and reusable components for enterprise applications
• Integrate agentic AI capabilities into existing applications to automate complex decision workflows and improve overall business responsiveness
• Optimize big data pipelines by refining data models tuning queries and improving resource utilization to reduce latency and operational costs
• Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to refine solution designs that align with organizational technology standards and long term platform strategies
• Review code produced by the development team to ensure adherence to coding standards and to improve software quality through constructive feedback
• Coordinate with product owners and business analysts to refine technical requirements into detailed implementation tasks that can be delivered iteratively
• Implement comprehensive unit tests and integration tests that increase system reliability and reduce defects in production environments
• Work closely with operations and support teams to ensure smooth deployments stable releases and effective monitoring of key application health metrics
• Apply secure coding practices and data protection standards so that applications handle sensitive information responsibly and consistently
• Document solution designs data flows and integration patterns in a clear manner to support maintainability and knowledge sharing across teams
• Mentor junior developers by sharing best practices in big data engineering core Java programming and agentic AI implementation patterns
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying technical debt proposing enhancements and supporting innovation that benefits business outcomes

What you need to have to be considered (Required):

• Demonstrate extensive experience in designing and implementing big data solutions using modern distributed processing and storage technologies
• Possess strong programming expertise in core Java and Java 8 including collections concurrency and functional programming constructs applied in real projects
• Show proven ability to integrate agentic AI frameworks or tools into enterprise applications to automate tasks and augment decision making processes
• Exhibit familiarity with inbound logistics processes in retail such as order routing stock movements and warehouse operations even if gained through supporting systems
• Display solid understanding of software design principles including modularity scalability and testability across complex distributed applications
• Bring experience working in hybrid delivery models with effective communication and collaboration practices across onsite and remote team members
  Illustrate practical knowledge of version control build automation and continuous integration practices that support reliable and repeatable software delivery

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is from $62k to $112K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
