Key Responsibilities

• Provide deep technical expertise and thought leadership that helps accelerate adoption of the absolute best engineering practices, while maintaining knowledge on industry innovations, trends, and practices.
• Lead and participate in medium to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, gathering requested information, writing, and developing code, and conducting unit testing.
• Develop highly scalable services to process millions of requests per day and solve complex software systems problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology.
• Gain exposure to various technologies used in Marketplace and E-commerce platforms.
• Design and develop backend microservices and APIs for web applications using JVM ecosystem (Kotlin, Java) and other languages and frameworks (Python, Go).
• Collaborate with project teams and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot open issues and bug-fixes, ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs.
• Provide support to the business by responding to users’ questions, concerns, and issues.
• Drive projects of high visibility across the organization.

Experience and Technical Skills

• 7–10 years of experience.
• 60–70% coding, 20–30% design/architecture.
• Technologies: Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Cosmos DB, BigQuery, Python, Kubernetes.
• Owns design and ensures scalability.
• Confident in pushing designs to production.
• Expertise in one or more programming languages (Java, Python, etc.).
• Strong background in algorithms and data structures.
• Experience leading teams and delivering large scale distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
• Proven understanding of microservices oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs.
• Experience with cloud application development including scalable, data driven, cloud cost-optimization and message-oriented architecture.
• Understanding of SaaS or PaaS or IaaS industry with hands on experience with public or private cloud offerings (AWS, GAE, Azure).
• Experience using automation toolset (Appium, Selenium, Jira, Rest Assured, AssetJ, Gatling, etc.) is a plus.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and best practices. Automated deployment experience is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of performance, scalability, and system architecture.
• Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies (XP, Scrum).
• Experience with relational / non-relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, Cassandra, etc.).
• Strong inclination towards exploring and learning new technologies.
• Understanding machine learning preferred.
• Previous experience in the marketplace domain.

Contract, Hours, and Location

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, or Independent Contractor (depending on the role). Working Hours: 60–70% coding, 20–30% design/architecture.

Compensation and Benefits

Minimum Compensation: USD 44,000
Maximum Compensation: USD 154,000
Compensation is based on actual experience and qualifications of the candidate. The above is a reasonable and a good faith estimate for the role.
