Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Missile Defense Integration in Huntsville, AL seeks a Principal Software Engineer (BM/SRM) to join our Java-based software team. You will implement enhancements, optimize algorithms, and coordinate with BM/SRM teams to align with system requirements.

This on-site role requires a current Secret security clearance and may involve travel between Huntsville and Colorado facilities. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and competitive salary range.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with 5 years of related experience; or Master’s with 3 years; or 9 years in lieu of a degree.
• Active Government-issued Secret security clearance required to start.
• Experience developing Java-based software using object-oriented design principles.
• Experience analyzing and optimizing existing software for performance and maintainability.
• Experience with data structures and algorithms to develop efficient software solutions.
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle in Unix/Linux environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel infrequently between Huntsville and Colorado facilities.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining Java-based software; participating in code reviews; creating and running unit tests; and investigating issues during integration and testing.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate software behavior, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement efficient, maintainable solutions.
• Participating in Agile planning and execution using established C2BMC processes.
