Job summary

Turing is seeking experienced software engineers (tech lead level) to contribute to high-quality open-source projects. The role involves hands-on development, environment automation, issue triaging, and evaluating test coverage. There is an opportunity to lead junior engineers on collaborative projects.

The position is fully remote as a contractor, with a 3‑month duration and a 4-hour overlap with PST. Pay is per approved task, reflecting US-market rates for contractor work.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong Java experience.
• Proficiency with Git, Docker, and basic software pipeline setup.
• Ability to navigate complex codebases and run/test projects locally.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries.
• Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup.
• Evaluate unit test coverage and quality.
• Modify and run codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug-fixing scenarios.
• Collaborate with researchers to design repositories/issues challenging for LLMs.
• Opportunity to lead a team of junior engineers.
