Qualifications

SR Java Engineer - GitHub Copilot (Investment Trading)

Confidential, super progressive INVESTMENT Management firm with offices in 15+ countries.

This super progressive Investment Management Firm is looking for a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer that uses the latest, greatest GenAi-enabled development tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenAI, VS Code, LLM, and RAG for portfolio management. This role will be working on the Portfolio Implementation Technology team, and will allow you to design, build, and support the systems that implement investment decisions.

Portfolio Implementation Technology refers to the specialized software, data infrastructure, and automation engines used by the Portfolio Managers of asset management firms to convert high-level investment decisions into precise, live market trades. (Automated Order Generation - Account-Level Rebalancing - Cash Flow Management - Compliance Checking).

• MUST be PASSIONATE about using Ai-tooling and demonstrate great curiosity and advanced skills regularly using GenAI-assisted development tools (like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.). They are seeking someone that has an 'exploratory relationship' with and a proactive engagement with using Ai that is actively 'pushing the boundaries' of what the technology can do for them.
• Be prepared to show a GitHub explanation of an unconventional or 'out of the box' route you took inorder to utilize an Ai-enabled development tool to better complete a task or provide a better solution.
• MUST HAVE experience working for an investment management firm (like Fidelity, Goldman, State Street, etc.) that actively buys and sells stock. (Not just a typical bank). You do NOT have to have worked directly on OMS, but you must at least be familiar with how stocks are bought and sold, dealing with buying on margin, margin calls, options, calls, puts, and settlement.
• Design and implement software components and applications across the full stack — web, mobile, desktop, and platform-level services. Partner with business teams, project managers, and systems analysts to turn business needs into clear requirements, specifications, and test plans. Accustomed to the SDLC using the following:
• Java
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Agentic Automation
• Agentic Workflows
• Agentic AI Development

REQUIREMENTS

• Must have a personal GitHub repository that you can share, that shows your passion for using AI-enabled apps.
• Must be so passionate about using AI-driven agentic engineering practices.
• Degreed with 5+ years of JAVA software experience designing and developing durable and impactful software solutions using AI-driven agentic engineering practices within an investment management firm.
• Comfortable with SDLC tools such as issue tracking (JIRA / Linear), source code management (Git), CI/CD (Jenkins / GitHub Actions), IDEs (VS Code / IntelliJ / Eclipse), AI tools (Claude Code / GitHub Copilot), Cloud platforms (AWS), Languages (Java / Python / TypeScript), and databases (Oracle / MySQL)
• MUST HAVE experience working for an investment management firm (like Fidelity, Goldman, State Street, etc.) that actively buys and sells stock. (Not just a typical bank). You do NOT have to have worked directly on OMS, but you must be familiar with how stocks are bought and sold, buying on margin, margin calls, options, calls, puts, and settlements.
• MUST BE a great communicator with ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment supporting a business-critical production environment.
• Must work onsite 4 days a week in Boston, MA.
