Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Global Equity Derivatives Risk Management team in Houston. You will be a core technical contributor delivering secure, scalable solutions and driving AI-assisted engineering practices across the SDLC.

The role requires strong Java/JVM expertise, microservices design, and experience with Spring, JPA/Hibernate, REST, and modern cloud environments. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and external vendors is expected.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts with 5+ years of applied experience.
• Proficient in Java core concepts including object-oriented design and multi-threading.
• Experience with Spring/Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate and REST based services.
• Strong JVM performance analysis, profiling, heap/thread dump analysis and GC tuning.
• Designing and implementing scalable microservices with high resiliency.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions with design, development, and debugging across complex systems.
• Develops secure, high-quality production code and reviews others' code.
• Drives adoption of enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality, speed, and reliability.
• Uses SDLC tools for automation and validation to improve value delivery.
• Identifies opportunities to automate recurring issues for greater stability.
• Leads evaluation sessions with vendors and teams on architectural designs and applicability.
