Job summary

Mindex, based in Rochester, NY, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and support enterprise applications using Java, Spring Framework, React, Python, MongoDB, and Kafka. You will collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to translate needs into reliable software, apply AI-assisted practices, and mentor others.

The role requires 5+ years in software development, enterprise/Agile experience, and familiarity with REST/SOAP services and RDBMS.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience in Java, Spring Framework, React, Python, MongoDB and Kafka.
• Experience with enterprise development in an Agile environment.
• Experience with an RDBMS such as Oracle or SQL Server.
• Experience with SOAP and/or REST web services.
• Experience with defect tracking software and SDLC.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customers and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into actionable development tasks and deliver software solutions.
• Design and develop secure, maintainable Java solutions aligned with service architecture.
• Define testing scope, validate functionality, and participate in pull requests to improve code quality.
• Apply systematic debugging to diagnose and resolve issues spanning multiple services.
• Develop expertise in key domains to guide technical decisions and support delivery.
• Maintain a security-focused approach and address vulnerabilities in code and reviews.
• Collaborate with teams to identify dependencies and coordinate solution implementations; document for maintenance.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge to strengthen team capabilities.
• Apply AI-first mindset to leverage AI-assisted tools to enhance productivity and innovation.
