Job summary

GEICO in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Software Engineer to help lead AI-driven modernization of our insurance platforms. You will build scalable Java backend services, work with Kafka, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL, and contribute to real-time data processing.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, implement robust software solutions, and continuously improve system reliability in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Qualifications

• Fluency in at least two modern languages such as Java, C++, Python or C#.
• Experience with micro-services architecture and extensible REST APIs.
• Experience with PostgreSQL database design, implementation, and administration.
• Experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.

Responsibilities

• Scope, design, and build scalable distributed systems with guidance from senior team members.
• Build product definition and drive towards the right solution.
• Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle.
• Define, create, and support reusable components and patterns for apps and databases.
• Work with ML technologies to integrate models into production Java apps.
