Job summary

Nightwing is seeking a Senior Java Developer to design and build enterprise-grade applications using OSGi principles, deployed in an Apache Karaf container, to support mission-critical operations.

You will work on software-defined networking platforms, develop RESTful services, and collaborate with network engineers to deliver scalable solutions in a fast-paced, security-conscious environment.

The role requires strong problem-solving, 5+ years of Java experience, and an active TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• A STEM degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Expertise in OSGi architecture, including bundle lifecycle and modularity.
• Experience with Apache Karaf or similar OSGi containers.
• Strong Spring/Spring Boot and REST API development.
• Experience with messaging systems (Kafka, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ).
• Multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming in Java.
• Git and CI/CD automation experience.
• Security clearance TS/SCI with Polygraph and U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop enterprise-grade Java applications using OSGi principles.
• Build and maintain apps on Apache Karaf for deploying OSGi bundles.
• Develop SDN platform components including controllers, plugins, and network management.
• Create modular services for dynamic network configuration, monitoring, and orchestration.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and northbound/southbound interfaces.
• Build scalable microservices for distributed network functions and real-time data processing.
• Optimize performance for high-throughput, low-latency environments.
• Collaborate with network engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams.
• Implement automated testing and participate in code reviews and DevSecOps workflows.
