Job Description

As a Senior Java Developer, you will take ownership of designing, developing, and maintaining core features of our cloud-based pre-payroll and payroll platform. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll leverage your expertise in Java and cloud technologies to create robust, scalable solutions that meet the needs of our customers. If you're a problem solver passionate about building high-quality software in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of one of our scrum teams, you will be responsible for developing new features, base functionality, or fixes for our cloud-based payroll solution.

  • Design and build scalable, efficient backend systems for online payroll and pre-payroll solutions.

  • Perform hands-on development by writing clean, maintainable, and performant code using Java and Kotlin.

  • Collaborate across teams by partnering with product owners, UX, and other teams to align on priorities and deliver end-to-end solutions.

  • Enhance system performance by optimizing database queries, improving response times, and scaling backend services efficiently.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of backend engineering experience (Java, Kotlin)

  • Strong understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, and API design

  • Experience working with data-intensive applications and optimizing performance

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a “maker” mentality

  • Advanced communication skills in English (German language knowledge is a plus)
