Position Overview

CornerStone Technology Talent Services (TTS) is seeking an experienced Senior Java Full-Stack Developer to support a large-scale application modernization initiative within a Georgia state government environment. This is an opportunity to play a key role in transforming a mission-critical legacy application currently running on Solaris servers into a modern, scalable, cloud-based platform supporting more than 3,000 users. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands‑on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Angular (both legacy and modern versions), microservices development, and cloud application modernization. We are seeking a senior developer who understands traditional enterprise applications but also has the technical expertise to design and build modern solutions from the ground up. This position focuses primarily on new application development, building microservices, and modernizing application architecture, rather than maintaining existing legacy systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular.
• Build scalable, cloud‑native microservices from scratch to replace legacy application functionality.
• Modernize monolithic applications into distributed, service‑based architectures.
• Work with both AngularJS and modern Angular frameworks to support application transformation.
• Analyze existing legacy applications, business logic, and system integrations to support modernization efforts.
• Design and develop REST APIs, backend services, and asynchronous application integrations.
• Collaborate with solution architects, cloud engineers, and development teams to establish modern application architecture and development standards.
• Develop and maintain database integrations using SQL, JPA, Hibernate, and related persistence technologies.
• Support cloud migration initiatives, including application refactoring, integration, testing, and deployment.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Apply Agile methodologies, secure coding practices, and CI/CD principles.
• Help establish a scalable, reliable application platform capable of supporting thousands of users.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience preferred, including senior‑level full‑stack development.
• Strong hands‑on experience developing enterprise applications using Java.
• Proven experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to design and build microservices from scratch.
• Strong Angular development experience, including familiarity with legacy AngularJS and modern Angular versions.
• Experience working with legacy enterprise applications and participating in application modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, backend integrations, and distributed application architecture.
• Experience with SQL databases, JPA, Hibernate, and backend data persistence.
• Understanding of cloud‑native application development principles and scalable application design.
• Experience collaborating with architects and cross‑functional technical teams.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and technical collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience modernizing large‑scale monolithic applications into distributed microservices architectures.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS/EKS, OpenShift, or similar containerization technologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated deployment tools.
• Experience migrating applications from Solaris, Unix, or other legacy server environments.
• Knowledge of 12‑factor application principles.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications with large user populations.
• Experience with asynchronous messaging, event‑driven systems, or distributed application integrations.
• Previous experience supporting government or public‑sector technology initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a hands‑on Senior Java Full‑Stack Developer who can bridge the gap between legacy enterprise applications and modern cloud‑native technologies. The strongest candidates will have demonstrated experience in: Java / Spring Boot AngularJS and Modern Angular Microservices Development REST API Development Legacy Application Modernization Cloud Migration SQL / JPA / Hibernate Enterprise Application Integration Cloud‑Native Architecture Important: Candidates should demonstrate experience personally designing and developing microservices, rather than experience limited to maintaining existing applications.

Work Arrangement & Additional Requirements

Long‑term contract supporting an estimated 2–3‑year modernization initiative. Minimal travel is anticipated.

Location & Schedule

Candidates may work from either Decatur, Georgia, or Forsyth, Georgia (near Macon). Hybrid schedule requiring three days onsite and two days remote per week.
