Job summary

Umanist Staffing LLC is seeking a Senior Java Developer for a Media and Entertainment project in New York City. The role is hybrid (4 days onsite) and focuses on backend development using Java 21, Spring Boot, and AWS cloud services.

The candidate will design and build scalable cloud-native applications, develop RESTful APIs, and contribute to architecture discussions while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Strong Java and AWS experience required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Java development experience.
• Strong Java 21 expertise; Java 17/11 value.
• Proficiency with Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Hands-on AWS cloud experience.
• Experience with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, and EKS.
• REST API development experience.
• Experience with NoSQL and relational databases.
• CI/CD experience with Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub, and Spinnaker.
• Familiarity with Scala.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java 21.
• Build and support Microservices using Spring Boot and the Spring Framework.
• Develop and maintain cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Work with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, and EKS.
• Design and develop REST APIs.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the SDLC.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and production deployments.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and technical design.
