Job summary

EPAM Systems, Inc. seeks a Lead Java Server-side Engineer to drive a Backend-for-Frontend layer powering high-traffic mobile products worldwide. You will collaborate with engineers, product partners, designers and QA to ship reliable APIs, modernize legacy code, and keep performance high.

Responsibilities include architecting the API layer, implementing REST endpoints, and driving unit tests and CI workflows. Strong Spring Boot and Java expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive Java server-side experience with 5+ years in a senior-level role.
• Strong design skills for APIs and service contracts aligned to mobile/back-end flows.
• Expert Spring Boot experience building and maintaining services.
• Deep knowledge of REST API development and legacy service integration.
• Proven unit testing and test-driven development mindset.
• Experience with CI workflows and build tooling.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build the Backend-for-Frontend API layer used by mobile apps.
• Implement REST endpoints and define service contracts for mobile user flows.
• Profile and optimize backend performance, refactor legacy code for reliability.
• Create clean, testable code with strong unit test coverage.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, design and QA to deliver features end to end.
• Contribute to CI workflows and improve build tooling for smooth releases.
