Job summary

Artifintech in Chicago is seeking a Java Backend Developer with AWS to design and build scalable microservices in a hybrid work environment. You will own server-side systems, implement RESTful APIs, and contribute to production reliability.

The role requires 7+ years of backend experience, Java 17+ and Spring Boot, Python, and strong AWS skills (ECS/Fargate, S3, CloudWatch). You will mentor peers and advance CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Proficient in Java 17+ and Spring Boot; Python is a plus.
• Extensive AWS experience with ECS/Fargate, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch.
• Relational DBs with PostgreSQL / Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL; performance tuning.
• CI/CD and IaC experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, CloudFormation.
• Testing with JUnit and Mockito; strong code quality mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Ensure resiliency and disaster recovery across AWS regions.
• Investigate production incidents; perform root-cause analysis and improve observability.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and IaC using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CodePipeline, CloudFormation.
• Model data and optimize queries in PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Provide mentorship and enforce automated testing standards.
