Mission Objectives
The Senior IT System Administrator provides advanced systems administration and technical support for AMC G2's JWICS environment at designated locations. This role ensures reliable, secure operation of JWICS servers, workstations, and associated VTC/VoIP equipment, and supports Tier 1 escalation and cyber operations.
Position Responsibility Summary
- Perform day-to-day systems administration of JWICS servers, workstations, and associated infrastructure (e.g., domain membership, patching, configuration, account and group management) in coordination with Government network owners and enterprise providers.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution of escalated Tier 1 issues affecting JWICS endpoints, VTC/VoIP equipment, and local services.
- Support installation, configuration, testing, and sustainment of JWICS VTC and VoIP equipment at HQ AMC, AMCOM, and Aberdeen, including coordination with stakeholders for scheduling and de-confliction.
- Work closely with the Senior RMF Specialist/ISSO to implement and maintain security configurations, apply STIGs, support vulnerability remediation, and document changes for RMF accreditation packages.
- Participate in cybersecurity assessments and on-site support activities at supported locations, providing local technical insight into systems, enclave architectures, and mission dependencies.
- Provide technical input to mission mapping and cyber terrain mapping, including support for creating/updating network diagrams, system inventories, and data flows.
- Support knowledge management activities by contributing technical documentation, SOPs, and diagrams to centralized repositories, enabling repeatable operations and rapid onboarding.
- Ensure all work complies with DoD/Army IA policies, local SOPs, and site-specific security requirements.
Position Requirements
Experience
- Extensive experience as a Windows or mixed-environment system administrator in DoD or IC environments, preferably supporting SIPR and/or JWICS.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory, group policies, patch management, endpoint configuration, and system hardening (STIGs).
- Experience with VTC/VoIP systems in secure environments (e.g., Cisco, Poly, secure voice solutions), including installation and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanning, HBSS/endpoint security agents, and coordination with ISSO/RMF staff.
- Proven ability to work independently at a remote site while coordinating with central engineering and cyber teams.
- Education and Credentials
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience per labor category).
- Certifications (required): DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GICSP, or equivalent) and relevant platform certifications as required by customer policy.
- Years of Experience: Typically 4–7+ years of system administration experience in secure DoD/IC networks.

- Prior experience supporting JWICS at AMC, DMEA, INSCOM, or other intelligence organizations.
- Experience with enterprise UC solutions and large-scale VTC deployments (e.g., ANG-style fielding efforts).
- Familiarity with mission assurance or cyber terrain mapping activities.
Optional/Value-Added Additional Credentials
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (if Associate’s is minimum) or Master’s in a technical field.
- Certifications/Training: Microsoft, Red Hat, or VMware certifications; Cisco voice/UC certifications; ITIL v4 Foundation.
- Experience: >7–10 years in systems administration with demonstrable leadership in project implementation or site-lead responsibilities.
Work Arrangement
Onsite (with limited telework at Government discretion)
Travel Requirements
Occasional CONUS travel to other AMC sites and JWICS enclaves, as required.
Work Hours
Core hours 0600–1800 Central Time, Monday–Friday (flexible shift within this window as mission requires)
Minimum Security Clearance Required
Active TS/SCI, with eligibility to access JWICS and SCIFs
