Job summary

Academy Sports + Outdoors is seeking a senior security architect to shape the enterprise security strategy across retail, corporate, and cloud environments, defining secure architectures aligned with business goals, regulatory demands, and customer trust. You will mentor teams and drive security standards adoption.

You will lead defense-in-depth initiatives, collaborate with IT, Legal, and Compliance, and evaluate new technologies to reduce risk, while ensuring PCI-DSS, SOX, data privacy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or IT security required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Certifications such as CISSP/CISM/CISA/SABSA/TOGAF strongly desired.
• 8–10 years IT/cybersecurity experience; 3–5 years security architecture.
• Experience with retail security (POS, ecommerce, data center).
• Knowledge of PCI-DSS, SOX, and privacy regulations.

Responsibilities

• Define, design, and maintain enterprise security architecture.
• Lead defense-in-depth across retail, corporate, and cloud.
• Collaborate with IT, Legal, and Compliance for PCI-DSS, SOX, privacy.
• Evaluate emerging tech to reduce risk and improve resilience.
• Provide security input on applications, infrastructure, and vendors.
• Develop security reference architectures and playbooks.
• Advise during incident response and forensics.
