Job summary

Dakota County, Minnesota is seeking a Senior IT Information Security Analyst to enhance security across county information assets. The onsite role in Hastings combines strengthening security standards, modernization of technologies, and regulatory compliance with the flexibility to work from home part of the time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/InfoSec with 3+ years IT security infra experience
• Or Associate degree with 5 years IT security infra experience
• Or 7 years combined education/experience in IT security
• CISSP certification
• CASP+ certification
• CSA certification
• Knowledge of security standards, trends, and risk management
• Understanding of network protocols (switches/routers)
• Experience with Windows Server, VMware, M365, Veeam
• Experience with enterprise security tech: VPN, encryption, firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus
• Knowledge of data protection laws
• Experience with security audit/assessment methodologies
• Risk management assessments and remediation
• Team-oriented, flexible environment
• Strong communication skills and collaboration

Responsibilities

• Research security threats and trends; stay current with industry developments
• Recommend improvements to security policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Assess and improve user access controls (creation, modification, removal)
• Deploy security technologies across county and vendor environments (encryption, firewalls, access controls)
• Support approval, tracking, and reporting of security exceptions
• Prepare status reports analyzing security risk and vendor control performance
• Monitor security technology performance and propose improvements
• Collaborate on technology projects to address security concerns
• Advise on security requirements for development or procurement efforts
• Maintain and monitor compliance with CJIS, HIPAA, IRS 1075, PCI-DSS, and laws
• Lead security assessments with internal/external partners and drive remediation
• Risk assessment and management across County systems
