Description


Leidos is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager who is interested in supporting large information technology projects for our Utility Technologies Solutions team. In this role, you will drive the execution and delivery of IT projects supporting electric utility operations, technology modernization, and evolving grid initiatives for our utility client. You will help ensure the successful delivery of projects while adhering to Leidos' Mission, Vision, and Values.


The Project Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of technology initiatives while ensuring adherence to established PMO governance and delivery standards. This role partners closely with IT teams, business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and external vendors to drive successful project outcomes, maintain alignment across workstreams, and support strategic technology objectives.


Projects may support areas such as utility technology modernization, grid modernization, Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), SAP and enterprise system modernization, distributed energy resources, and other initiatives supporting the evolving electric grid.


Location: This position is onsite in South Plainfield, New Jersey, three days a week. Qualified candidates must reside within a commutable distance and be able to work onsite at client offices three days per week.


Salary: This position pays a salary in the range of $130,000 to $150,000 annually.


Responsibilities:



  • Manage the full lifecycle of technology projects, ensuring successful delivery within established timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.

  • Oversee project governance activities, including planning, tracking milestones, managing deliverables, resolving issues, and controlling scope changes.

  • Partner with business units, IT teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to coordinate project execution and maintain alignment.

  • Apply PMO/EPMO standards, methodologies, reporting practices, and governance requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Create and maintain project documentation, including schedules, risk and issue logs, status updates, action items, and executive-level communications.

  • Lead project meetings, requirements workshops, design reviews, testing readiness activities, and deployment planning sessions.

  • Monitor and mitigate project risks, dependencies, and issues associated with system integrations, third-party vendors, compliance requirements, and technical limitations.

  • Coordinate environment readiness, data preparation efforts, and interdependencies with concurrent initiatives.

  • Facilitate communication between technical teams, business stakeholders, leadership, and external partners.

  • Support implementation readiness by ensuring training, documentation, support models, and stabilization activities are in place for go-live.


Required Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management, Business Administration or another related field required with 8+ years of project management experience.

  • PMP certification required.

  • Strong understanding of project management fundamentals including scope, schedule, budget, risk, governance, quality management, and PMO reporting.

  • Experience supporting enterprise system implementations, platform modernization, integrations, or large-scale technology transformation initiatives.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) across technical, operational, and executive stakeholder groups.

  • Proven stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination capabilities.

  • Experience managing vendors, system integrators, and third-party delivery teams.

  • Strong risk, issue, dependency, and change management skills.

  • Technical project coordination experience supporting enterprise or operational technology platforms.

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, highly regulated, and complex environment.

  • Strong skills using Microsoft product suite and PPM/project management tools.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous IT project management experience working within electric utilities, energy, critical infrastructure, or other highly regulated industries preferred.

  • Experience supporting utility technology, grid modernization, digital transformation, or operational technology initiatives preferred.

  • Familiarity with technologies or programs such as ADMS, DERMS, SCADA, distributed energy resources, SAP, or enterprise/utility applications is a plus.

  • Experience working in environments undergoing technology modernization, regulatory-driven initiatives, system integration, or large-scale transformation preferred.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00
