Job description

Florida Power & Light Company is the largest electric utility in the U.S., providing reliable energy to nearly 12 million Floridians. With one of the nation’s most fuel-efficient, cost-effective power generation fleets and industry-leading reliability, we’re redefining what’s possible in energy. Want to be part of something powerful? Join our outstanding team and help shape the future of energy.

Position Specific Description

We are seeking a Senior IT Programmer Analyst: Cloud DevOps to join our Enterprise Data Office. In this senior role, you will lead the engineering, automation, and governance of cloud data infrastructure across AWS and GCP — enabling scalable, secure, and well-governed data services that power analytics, AI/ML, and enterprise data products at NextEra scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and operate cloud data services across AWS and GCP, including managed data platforms, storage layers, compute, and networking with a data-first lens
  • Practice Databricks platform engineering — workspace provisioning, Unity Catalog governance, cluster lifecycle management, workflow orchestration, and feature operationalization (including AI/BI capabilities)
  • Engineer and maintain AWS data services (Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, MSK, DMS, Lake Formation) and GCP data services (BigQuery, Cloud Storage) with emphasis on reliability, security, resiliency and cost efficiency
  • Implement infrastructure automation for data platform provisioning using GitHubActions, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines — reducing manual toil and enabling self-service for business units
  • Implement and enforce data access governance across platforms, including IAM policies, Unity Catalog permissions, Lake Formation controls, and project-based authorization models
  • Champion FinOps practices — tagging compliance, chargeback, cost anomaly detection, and budget governance across cloud data spend
  • Serve as Tier 3 escalation for data platform incidents, ensuring SLA adherence and operational continuity
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in Cloud Platform Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or related disciplines, with meaningful experience supporting enterprise data platforms
  • Solid hands-on expertise with AWS and/or GCP, with experience building and operating production-grade cloud infrastructure and data services
  • Databricks platform engineering experience, including workspace administration, Unity Catalog, compute, security, governance, and platform automation
  • Familiarity with cloud data technologies such as S3, Redshift, Glue, Lake Formation, MSK, DMS, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, or Cloud Composer
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD, including Terraform and GitHub Actions or equivalent technologies
  • Working knowledge of cloud networking and security, including IAM, VPC networking, private connectivity, DNS, encryption, secrets management, and service identities
  • Experience implementing data governance and access-control frameworks across enterprise or multi-cloud environments
  • Proficiency in Python, Shell, or similar languages for platform engineering and automation
  • Experience with platform observability, incident management, resiliency, and production operational practices
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms in the context of automated provisioning and operational workflows
  • Ability to work with technical workstreams, contribute to architecture decisions, and communicate effectively with both technical teams and stakeholders
  • A positive attitude, strong collaborative spirit, and agentic/automation-first mindset.
