Job Description

Puget Sound Energy's IT team is seeking a Senior IT Cloud and AI Architect to lead the design and implementation of cloud-based AI solutions and to drive the adoption of new cloud providers. You will develop architecture for PSE's cloud-enabled AI solutions and oversee migration of applications to cloud platforms. You will also help position PSE to leverage cloud-native technologies and understand industry trends.

As a Senior IT Cloud and AI Architect, your focus will be on the 'why' behind technology solutions, in addition to the 'how.' You will design complex systems with an eye on enterprise architecture, collaborating with senior leaders, project teams, and executives to develop secure and valuable technology roadmaps. Ensuring IT aligns with business outcomes and understanding how technology enables these outcomes will be key.

The IT Applications team is distributed across the PSE territory, with offices in Bothell and Bellevue. This hybrid role requires 50% in-office presence. You will work with a diverse team that values collaboration, creativity, and work-life balance.

Job Responsibilities

• Designs complete and complex frameworks and systems, consulting with Solution Delivery Teams as needed.
• Defines system and infrastructure specifications, interfaces, and performance parameters.
• Develops system interfaces and prototypes, identifies weaknesses, and influences future IT solutions.
• Creates strategies and frameworks for enterprise-wide systems focusing on Cloud and AI technologies.
• Analyzes industry trends, vendor products, and best practices to guide IT direction.
• Acts as a spokesperson for company's technical designs and future directions.
• Researches and proposes solutions aligned with business and IT strategies.
• Advises on technology roadmaps and participates in design reviews.
• Provides holistic understanding of complex system designs and performance in dynamic situations.
• Assesses product and service compatibility for integrated architecture.
• Monitors technological advancements to ensure standards and emerging needs are met.
• Contributes to technology evaluation and selection, especially for cloud and AI investments.
• Prepares Technology Feasibility Assessments for new technology adoption.
• Shapes long-term IT vision and delegates project activities accordingly.
• Upholds ethical standards, safety compliance, and promotes a safety culture.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 15 years of IT architecture experience.
• 10 years in large-scale, heterogeneous IT environments.
• Ability to translate strategic plans into application design and implementation.
• Deep expertise in AWS, with working knowledge of other cloud platforms.
• Credibility to influence across multiple business functions.
• Excellent communication skills in technical and non-technical language.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to share knowledge.
• Analytical thinker capable of extracting and documenting complex requirements.

Desired Qualifications

• MS or MBA in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience in the utility industry, especially regulated utilities.
• Certifications like TOGAF, ZCEA, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer, Enterprise Architect, or Machine Learning.
