Job summary

The University of Illinois System in Urbana is seeking an Information Technology Auditor to provide IT audit expertise across campus operations and system offices. The role supports staff in Chicago, Springfield, and Urbana-Champaign, coordinating IT audit activities and governance with senior management.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree and IT audit experience; professional certifications such as CISA/CISSP/CIA/CPA are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
• Two years or more of experience in IT audit, IT operations, IT project management, regulatory compliance, or public accounting.
• Advanced degree in the fields of Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
• Three years or more of information technology audit experience.
• CISA, CISSP, CIA, or CPA certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform information technology audits across various operational industries at the University of Illinois System and related organizations.
• Independently conduct all audit phases: planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, reporting, wrap-up and follow-up.
• Coordinate with auditee to schedule campus and off-site fieldwork and meetings (Chicago, Springfield, Urbana-Champaign).
• Identify control weaknesses and opportunities to strengthen compliance and operational efficiency.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to management at all levels; develop actionable improvement plans.
• Lead meetings with staff at all levels to gather information and assess business processes and controls.
• Consult with System faculty, management, and staff on processes and policies on an ad hoc basis.
• Participate in project teams for business system re-engineering and process evaluation to provide internal-control guidance.
• Contribute to self-evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives within the Office of University Audits.
• Support other audit staff across Chicago, Springfield, and Urbana-Champaign as needed.
