Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an experienced application developer to design, implement, and support centralized applications and SDP engineering tools at our Mossville, IL location.

You will lead coding efforts, customize software solutions, evaluate changes, and resolve issues across complex systems while collaborating with senior staff and business users to deliver reliable, scalable software solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, MIS, CS, or 8+ years of software development experience.
• At least 5 years as an application developer with proficiency in .NET and JavaScript.
• Proven experience in software design, development, and support.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS/Azure) is a plus.

The successful candidate will join Caterpillar as a key contributor, responsible for the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of our Centralized App and SDP Engineering Applications.

What You Will Do:

• Lead the design, coding, testing, and debugging of programs with varying complexity.

• Demonstrate expertise in programming languages, program design, specification development, logic diagrams, testing, debugging, and documentation.

• Integrate in-house developed systems and purchased software solutions, ensuring seamless operation.

• Continuously improve development and support processes to enhance efficiency and quality.

• Collaborate with users to diagnose and resolve issues, delivering excellent customer support.

• Assist senior system development and support personnel in addressing customer requests and system challenges, contributing to innovative solutions.

What You Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; or 8+ years of professional software development experience.

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience as an application developer, with proficiency in .net and JavaScript.

• Proven experience in software design, development, and support.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

• Familiarity with cloud technologies and modern IT architecture is a plus.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

• Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL.

• Experience in integrating applications using APIs

• Familiarity with cloud-based development environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.

• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies to solve real-world challenges.

• Hands-on Low code/no code development experience delivering enterprise business applications.

• Experience migrating or modernizing .NET applications to low-code platforms.

• Experience developing applications that integrate with Teamcenter, SAP, Azure, and AWS.

• Ability to lead application modernization initiatives from assessment through deployment.

• Experience establishing reusable low-code development standards and governance.

• Demonstrated success reducing application support costs through application consolidation and modernization

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $183,140.00
