Job Description

As a member of the Office for Research Protections staff, the Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist will play an important role in ensuring and improving researcher compliance to human subjects research policies at both the institutional and federal level. This person will develop a robust auditing system to review existing IRB protocols across all risk levels, and work to ensure that these audits can be tracked within the InfoEd IRB module.

This person will further develop and refine the process for performing audits at BC. They will ensure that applicable written procedures and templates are current, complete, and accurate. They will prepare suggested corrective action plans and review these plans with researchers, tracking them over time and reporting to the Director on progress of these plans. The QA Specialist will develop and conduct training on research practices, serving as a resource to researchers at all levels. This person will assist with the development of study management tools, templates, and education. They must remain current on federal, state, and local laws governing human subjects research. The QA Specialist will work alongside the rest of the Office for Research Protections team, and will be responsible for the intake and review of all protocols for at least one department. They may be required to conduct site visits for some research teams.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following hiring ranges:

Senior IRB QA Specialist with 5+ years relevant experience: $67,100 through $83,900
IRB QA Specialist with 0-5 years relevant experience: $60,650 through $75,850



Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, master’s is preferred.

At least 3 years experience in conduct or administration of research.

Must have a detailed knowledge of federal, state, and local human subjects research regulations.

Excellent customer service, project management, and process improvement skills.

Must have the ability to take initiative, work independently, produce results, and perform tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Experience in teaching or working with faculty, students, and staff is preferred.
