Job summary

SankerIP, an intellectual property boutique in San Jose, seeks an experienced patent prosecutor to lead complex matters in AI/ML, software, semiconductor, and cybersecurity. This role emphasizes independent work, client engagement, and strategic portfolio development.

The candidate will draft and prosecute applications, discuss Office Actions, mentor junior staff, and contribute to growth and leadership efforts in a fast-paced, non-bureaucratic setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of dedicated U.S. patent prosecution experience.
• Active registration to practice before the USPTO.
• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Demonstrated experience drafting and prosecuting patents in software, AI/ML, or related tech.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications across AI/ML, software, semiconductor, and cybersecurity domains.
• Develop claim strategies and draft responses to Office Actions.
• Conduct examiner interviews and handle appeals and PTAB matters as appropriate.
• Lead disclosure meetings to extract patentable innovations and translate concepts into portfolio strategy.
• Oversee client portfolios and serve as a point of contact for strategic advisory.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to firm growth and leadership initiatives.
