The New York Times is seeking a Staff iOS Engineer to join the News Product team in New York City. You will help lay the foundations for native app experiences and lead architecture decisions for the News app using Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit.

This hybrid role requires 3 days in the office per week. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with design, backend and web teams, and drive performance, maintainability, and long-term vision for a reliable reader experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in large-scale iOS apps.
• Strong knowledge of iOS frameworks and Swift.
• Experience guiding mobile architecture and technical direction.
• Experience with performance optimization and scalable tests.

Responsabilités

• Lead design and implementation of core iOS architectures, shared frameworks, and infrastructure.
• Set engineering standards and long-term technical roadmaps for the iOS platform.
• Collaborate with backend, web teams, and designers to deliver reliable user experiences.
• Mentor engineers and participate in Communities of Practice.
