Job description

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Communications and Technology, or related field

- 14+ years of experience in software development, with at least 8 years focused on iOS applications

- Expert-level proficiency in iOS development, including Swift, Objective-C, SwiftUI and UIKit

- Strong knowledge of mobile app architecture, design patterns (such as MVC, MVVM or similar) and best practices

- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, networking, XML and data storage

- Understanding of Apple’s design principles, interface guidelines, and accessibility standards

- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

- Experience with unit testing, UI testing (XCTest)

THE WORK
The Senior iOS Developer will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and delivering advanced mobile applications for iOS platforms. This position requires deep technical expertise, innovative problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive complex projects from concept to completion. The Senior iOS Developer will contribute to the organization’s technological leadership, acting as both a technical expert and a liaison between cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Technical Expertise & Innovation

- Leverage in-depth knowledge of iOS technologies, frameworks, and best practices to architect and build sophisticated mobile applications.
- Pioneer new approaches and contribute to the evolution of mobile development standards within the organization.

Complex Problem Solving

- Tackle highly challenging technical issues, designing creative and effective solutions that push the boundaries of what’s possible on iOS.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for critical, high-impact problems, ensuring stability and performance at scale.

Autonomy & Leadership

- Work with significant independence, proactively setting technical direction and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Initiate and drive projects aligned with long-term business goals, collaborating with peers and stakeholders to ensure alignment and success.

Strategic Impact

- Shape the future of the organization’s mobile products by transforming advanced technical concepts into successful, market-ready applications.
- Recognize the importance of technical decisions, understanding that your recommendations can directly influence the organization’s success and reputation.

Collaboration & Representation

- Represent the iOS team in discussions with internal and external partners, clearly communicating complex ideas and project status.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to management and clients, providing expert guidance on technical research, implementation strategies, and emerging trends in mobile technology.

Additional Responsibilities

- Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in mobile development and the broader software industry.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Design, QA, and DevOps to deliver high-quality mobile solutions.

Desired skills

- Expertise in CI/CD tools such as Fastlane, Jenkins, and GitLab

- Proficiency in performance optimization and debugging

- Familiarity with modern iOS frameworks such as Combine and Concurrency (async/await, actors)

- Knowledge of database systems and ORM frameworks (e.g., Sqlite)

- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code

- Familiarity with Android framework or Kotlin Multi-platform (KMP) is a plus

- Experience mentoring or leading other developers is a plus

Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $128,400 - $226,435. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
