Job summary

Lynker Corporation invites an Ionospheric Scientist and Modeling Lead to join our team. You will help advance ionosphere/thermosphere models for space weather forecasting used in communications, navigation, and satellite drag applications.

The role requires leadership across agencies, transitioning research to operations, and presenting results in scientific venues. Strong Fortran/Python skills and a Ph.D. in a related field are expected.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a physical sciences or related field with 5+ years of experience in research or forecasting.
• Expertise in ionosphere-thermosphere modeling and space weather processes.
• Strong programming skills in Fortran and Python and model validation experience.
• Proven leadership and coordination of scientists and programmers in an R2O environment.

Responsibilities

• Advance predictive models of the ionosphere and atmosphere for space weather forecasting.
• Coordinate model development across agencies and guide research priorities.
• Transition high-priority models from research to operations with proper validation.
• Present results through publications and presentations.
• Manage the ionospheric modeling group at SWPC.
