Job summary

Cambridge Associates is seeking an Investment Director to join its Private Client Practice in the United States. The role involves constructing and managing client portfolios, performing due diligence, and presenting recommendations to clients and Investment Committees across the US, Canada, and the UK.

You will lead analytical work, supervise an investment associate team, and collaborate with CIOs, CFOs, and external advisors while ensuring timely, clear client communication.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required; MBA or CFA strongly preferred.
  • Investment knowledge from work at an investment firm, a large institutional investor, or a family office.
  • Demonstrated investment knowledge and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop diversified portfolios to meet client objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Conduct analyses, prepare materials, and respond to client requests.
  • Work directly with clients and develop relationships with client committees and advisors.
  • Select and evaluate investment managers across asset classes (incl. alternatives).
  • Represent Cambridge Associates in marketing, conferences, and business development opportunities.
  • Oversee and mentor analysts/associates, oversee performance reviews and career development.

Job Description Summary: Investment Directors work closely with colleagues to help clients meet or exceed their investment objectives, operating within a team-based structure alongside Chief Investment Officers, Managing Directors, Senior Investment Directors, and Associates. Within the Private Client Practice, this role works on an investment team whose clients are based in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and involves partnering with team members to construct and manage client portfolios while ensuring timely and effective communication with clients. Responsibilities include developing appropriate financial and investment goals, asset allocation policies, and investment manager structures; conducting due diligence on investment opportunities; selecting and recommending managers; and evaluating the performance of individual managers and total portfolios. Investment Directors are also expected to oversee and contribute to all aspects of client work, including analytical tasks, developing recommendations, supervising investment associates, preparing presentation materials, and assuming significant responsibility for client relationships through direct interaction and presentation of recommendations.

Responsibilities
  • Create and develop diversified portfolios to enable increased returns and lower volatility consistent with time horizon, risk tolerance, and income needs to client
  • Conduct analyses, prepare materials and direct clients on investment and financial issues; lead and coordinate ad hoc client requests
  • Work with and present directly to clients; develop relationships with clients, including Investment Committees, CIO/CFO of client institutions, outside advisors, etc.
  • Select and evaluate investment managers for virtually all asset classes, including alternative assets such as venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, real estate, timberland, and oil & gas
  • Represent Cambridge Associates externally through marketing presentations, conferences and other business development opportunities
  • Oversight of analyst/associate level team members, which includes training and mentoring needs, performance reviews, and career development

Requirements

Base salary range for this role: Pay Range Minimum: 181500 Pay Range Maximum: 246800
