We are seeking a Senior Investment Accountant to support the accounting and reporting of a diversified investment portfolio including public and private fixed income, global equities, private funds, and non-USD currency exposures.
Your Role:
This role is critical in overseeing outsourced investment accounting services, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting accurate financial reporting under GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).
Your Work:
- Provide daily oversight of outsourced investment accounting provider, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with service level agreements
- Review and validate journal entries, reconciliations, valuations, and reports.
- Monitor compliance with company accounting policies and statutory/GAAP requirements.
- Analyze complex investment transactions and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Evaluate and apply new accounting guidance.
- Ensure adherence to Model Audit Rule controls.
- Oversee month-end and quarter-end close.
- Oversee statutory filings (NAIC Schedules D, DA, BA) and disclosures.
- Serve as key contact for auditors.
- Mentor junior staff and lead process improvements.
Required Experience, Education and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 6+ years of investment accounting experience (insurance/financial services experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SAP, and NAIC reporting.
- Experience with outsourced providers or custodians.
- Proficiency in PAM or similar.
- Familiarity with SOX/MAR frameworks.
- Strong Microsoft Office Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
