Job summary

The Consumer Protection Division of the Office of the Attorney General of Texas seeks an investigator to perform moderately complex investigative work in deceptive trade practices and civil matters. You may testify in civil court and provide legal support to deputies and attorneys.

Education includes a bachelor’s degree in a related field; experience in investigation or technology is valued. Travel and in-person work at the OAG office are required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a field related to investigation or technology.
• One year of full-time experience in investigation, criminal justice, computer science, or consumer protection.
• Knowledge of investigative techniques, court procedures, and evidence rules.
• Familiarity with computer systems, IT, and related software/hardware.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with non-technical audiences.
• Ability to travel up to 5% and obtain/maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide moderately complex investigative work for deceptive trade practices and civil matters.
• Provide investigative and legal support to attorneys; may testify in civil court.
• Manage attorneys' caseloads and coordinate with division staff.
• Assist in producing reports and correspondence; ensure accuracy of records.
• Work in-person at assigned OAG location and travel as required.
