Job summary

Farmer Mac seeks a Senior Internal Auditor to support risk-based internal audits across finance, operations, and governance. Based in Washington, DC, this role involves planning, testing, documentation, and remediation follow-up under audit leadership.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in internal audit or related fields, with a preference for CPA/CIA/CISA/CFA/CFE designations, and experience with SOX, COSO, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Five or more years of internal audit, public accounting, or related experience.
• CPA/CIA/CISA/CFA/CFE designation preferred.
• Experience with SOX, COSO, and risk assessment practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk-based audits of finance, operations, compliance, and governance.
• Assist with audit planning, scoping, testing, and documentation.
• Lead or supervise staff auditors and perform audit test steps.
• Perform SOX control testing and remediation follow-up.
• Draft audit findings and collaborate on practical recommendations.
• Ensure full documentation and final sign-off of workpapers.
