Job summary

The City Auditor's Office in Arlington, Virginia is seeking a seasoned Senior Auditor to conduct and lead complex performance, compliance, information systems, and financial audits under GAAS. The position also handles fraud investigations and assists in the Annual Risk Assessment.

You will supervise audit staff, develop audit programs, interview senior management, document evidence, and plan follow-up audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field with 4+ years of internal auditing experience, preferably in government.
• Certifications such as CIA/CGAP/CPA/CISA/CFE are preferred.
• Experience conducting fraud investigations and leading audit projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead municipal audit projects, directing and reviewing the work of audit staff to ensure accurate and timely results.
• Provide functional supervision to audit staff and interns assigned to Senior Auditor projects.
• Independently develop audit programs to achieve project objectives within budgets.
• Collect, analyze and evaluate information to form an objective opinion on financial reporting and compliance.
• Independently conduct interviews with senior level management.
• Document audit evidence and conclusions clearly and systematically to support findings.
• Plan and execute follow-up audits to assess implementation of recommendations.
• Perform complex special assignments as requested by Internal Audit management.
• Maintain 80 hours of continuing education every two years.
