Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • 5+ years of progressive experience
  • Proficiency with load-flow analysis software such as PowerWorld, PSS/E, GE-PSLF, or E-TAP
  • Knowledge of three-phase, high-voltage power transmission and distribution (69kV - 765kV)
  • Ability to read construction documents, including drawings, specifications and RFPs

Responsibilities

  • Act as an engineering SME, to support and communicate with project and facility managers to identify issues and develop solutions.
  • Technical Leadership: Prepare typical technical reports and represent the organization in regional planning and strategy roles.
  • Strategic Advisory: Translate highly technical load flow results, thermal limits, and stability analyses into clear business risks, timeline impacts, and financial options for non-technical executives or investors.
  • Scope power delivery projects, prepare RFPs, develop rough order magnitude cost estimates, support land and permit acquisitions, provide technical support for due diligence evaluations, and otherwise support power engineering, procurement and construction projects
  • Support client engagement with electric utilities on feasibility studies, power topology design, and interconnection processes for either electric load or generation.
  • Analyze operational scenarios in a simulated environment to identify potential challenges and opportunities
  • Compliance & Studies: Navigate ISO/RTO interconnection processes. Maintain NERC and FERC compliance. Perform contingency analysis (N-1, N-1-1) and craft practical solutions like reconductoring, RAS (Remedial Action Schemes)

Role: Senior/Intermediate Electrical Engineers

Location: Remote USA or Hybrid-Eligible in Coeur d’Alene, ID

Program: Energy/Transmission Program

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Electrical Engineer to join our team. This candidate will have a strong background in electric power transmission/generation, a passion for innovation, and an ability to collaborate well with clients and stakeholders. The candidate must possess strong organizational and communication skills critical to working with diverse teams in a primarily remote work environment. This role involves significant collaboration with client teams and offers considerable latitude for independent judgment and action related to program objectives.

Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • 5+ years of progressive experience
  • Proficiency with load-flow analysis software, such as PowerWorld, PSS/E, GE-PSLF, or E-TAP
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, three-phase, high-voltage power transmission and distribution (69kV - 765kV)
  • Ability to read construction documents, including drawings, specifications and RFPs
Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of power systems engineering experience, with a proven track record at a major utility, ISO/RTO, or specialized power delivery consultancy. Electric utility capacity planning and operations experience preferred.
  • Experience with Transmission Planning, such as conducting load flow, stability, short-circuit, and voltage analyses to evaluate long-term transmission expansion and grid reliability
  • Experience with Capacity Planning, including development of load forecasting models and analyzing the integration of renewable energy, Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and high-demand loads (e.g., data centers).
  • 7+ years of experience with MW-scale blended resource microgrids, with emphasis on natural gas generation
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and inverter-based resources.
  • Familiarity or experience with scripting languages (i.e. Python, MATLAB)
  • Advanced degrees preferred.
Compensation Package

This estimate includes base compensation, median retirement fund contributions, and employer-paid health and related benefits. The actual total will vary based on individual enrollment choices. These compensation amounts are subject to leadership discretion based on relevant experience.

Senior Engineer: $150,000-$195,000 annually

Intermediate Engineer: $110,000-$140,000 annually ($90,000 minimum base)
