Sr. Interior Designer - Sports, Recreation and Entertainment (Salaried/Exempt Position)

Perkins & Will Kansas City Studio is seeking experienced Design Leaders with 10-15+ years of expertise in leading all phases of the design process, from ideation to implementation. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in Sports, Recreation, and Entertainment design, working closely with principals and clients, leading talented teams, and mentoring designers. Core Responsibilities:
  1. Lead all phases of the design process with proficiency, creativity, and adherence to standards.
  2. Develop detailed design concepts and functional requirements.
  3. Understand and lead in architectural and interior design integration.
  4. Manage interior design efforts, including client engagement and team leadership.
  5. Utilize graphic storytelling for project delivery.
  6. Participate in marketing, lead design presentations, and build client relationships.
  7. Prepare presentation packages, publications, and award submissions.
  8. Review work for accuracy and compliance.
  9. Lead collaborative design reviews and sessions.
  10. Communicate effectively to inspire high team performance.
  11. Mentor staff and coordinate with clients and consultants throughout projects.
Experience & Proficiencies:
  • 10-15+ years of relevant experience, especially in Sports, Recreation, and Entertainment design.
  • Proficiency in BIM, building codes (ADA, FGI), programming, planning, and site analysis.
  • Experience with contract documents, field observations, life safety, furniture, and construction administration.
  • Skilled in cost estimation, zoning analysis, and documenting Living Design data.
Software Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of 2D/3D production software, Revit, Microsoft Office, SketchUp, Enscape, Lumion, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
  • NCIDQ preferred.
  • LEED GA within 6 months of hire.
  • Professional accreditation in Living Design (e.g., LEED AP, BREEAM, WELL, SITES, CPHC, RELi) within 6 months.

Salary & Equity:
