Job description
Senior Interior Designer — Architecture & Interior Design Studio

Location: San Francisco, CA (On-Site Only) Industry: Architecture & Interior Design Employment Type: Full-time

Shape meaningful spaces with one of the West Coast’s leading interdisciplinary studios.

An award-winning architecture and design firm is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead concept development, design direction, and project execution across a range of workplace and civic projects. With offices in multiple cities and a reputation for thoughtful, sustainable design, this team blends architecture and interiors into cohesive, story-rich environments.

This is a fully on-site role in San Francisco, ideal for a designer who thrives in collaborative studios, can guide both clients and junior staff, and wants to take ownership of impactful work at every scale.

What you’ll do:
  • Partner with studio leadership to shape and communicate overall design direction
  • Develop conceptual ideas and present design solutions to clients
  • Lead interiors scope across projects of all sizes and complexity, from concept through construction
  • Guide schematic design work and maintain oversight throughout design development, documentation, and construction phases
  • Coordinate interior architecture with overall building design, working closely with the architectural team
  • Mentor and support junior staff, providing day-to-day design leadership and team coordination
  • Prepare visual and technical design materials including drawings, models, mood boards, and presentation documents
  • Research, select, and coordinate finishes, products, and furnishings — ensuring alignment with sustainability goals
  • Oversee the design and implementation of furniture packages in collaboration with dealers and vendors
  • Support the integration of branding elements into architectural interiors
What you bring:
  • A professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture (BS/BA/BFA/MA/MFA), with at least 10 years of relevant experience
  • A strong foundation in all phases of interior architecture, including concept development, detailing, documentation, and construction
  • Demonstrated leadership in large, complex workplace projects, with growing responsibilities across teams and project scopes
  • Proficiency in Revit, with additional skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, Rhino, and other visualization tools
  • Excellent communication skills — both verbal and written — with the ability to guide teams and engage clients
  • Familiarity with building materials, systems, and codes, as well as construction techniques and project delivery methods
  • Active pursuit of professional licensure is preferred; LEED AP is a plus
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities, with deep knowledge of interior finishes, furniture systems, and specifications
  • A collaborative, self-directed mindset and the ability to work independently within a team environment
